Homie
Terms of Service
Last updated July 3, 2026
Homie is a coordination platform for dog rescues and the people around them · fosters, adopters, volunteers, and donors. By creating an account or using Homie, you agree to these terms. If you are using Homie on behalf of a rescue organization, you agree on the organization's behalf too.
1. What Homie is (and isn't)
Homie provides software: dog records, applications, messaging, scheduling, agreements, and payment links. The rescues on Homie are independent organizations. Homie is not a rescue, does not own or place dogs, and is not a party to adoptions, foster placements, or any agreement between you and a rescue. Decisions about dogs · who adopts, who fosters, medical care, fees · are made by the rescue, not by Homie.
2. Your account
You need accurate information and a secure credential to hold an account. You are responsible for activity under your account. One person, one account · your roles (foster, adopter, volunteer, staff) live on the same identity. You must be at least 18 to sign agreements or make payments through Homie.
3. Agreements and e-signatures
Rescues may ask you to sign adoption or foster agreements electronically inside Homie. When you sign, you agree that your electronic signature is legally binding, the same as ink. Homie keeps the signed record exactly as signed and shows it to you under Settings → Legal & documents. The agreement itself is between you and the rescue · read it before you sign.
4. Payments and donations
Payments made through Homie · donations, adoption fees, pledges · are processed by Stripe and go to the rescue's own account. Homie does not hold your money. Donations are generally non-refundable; for refunds of adoption fees or disputed charges, contact the rescue first. Whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the rescue's status · check with them.
5. Content you post
Photos, updates, messages, and notes you post stay yours. You give Homie and the rescue you're working with permission to store and display them so the product works · for example, a photo you post of a foster dog may appear on that dog's public adoption page when the rescue publishes it. Don't post content that is unlawful, harassing, or that you don't have the right to share.
6. Acceptable use
- Don't misrepresent who you are to a rescue or to Homie.
- Don't use Homie to harass, threaten, or spam anyone.
- Don't scrape, probe, or attempt to access data that isn't yours.
- Don't use the platform for anything unlawful, including animal cruelty or fraud.
Homie can suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and rescues can block or report users from their own workspace.
7. Notifications
Homie sends notifications on behalf of rescues · in-app, push, and email. You control the non-essential ones: every marketing or check-in email carries an unsubscribe link, and push preferences live in the app. Essential updates about your own applications, agreements, and a dog in your care may still arrive · those keep you and the dog safe.
8. Disclaimers
Homie is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service or that any placement, reunification, or adoption will succeed. Nothing in Homie · including AI-assisted answers in the help chat · is veterinary, legal, or financial advice. For a medical emergency, contact your rescue or a veterinarian directly.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Homie's liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid Homie in the twelve months before the claim (for most users, zero · Homie is free for individuals). Homie is not liable for the acts of rescues, adopters, fosters, or dogs.
10. Changes and ending your account
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. You can stop using Homie at any time and ask for your account to be deleted from Settings or through support. Signed agreements are kept as legal records even after account deletion, as the rescue is required to retain them.
